The NBA announced a fine for the New York Knicks after Phil Jackson made public comments about Ohio State guard D’Angelo Russell. The amount of the fine was not disclosed by NBA spokesman Tim Frank.

The comment came after Phil Jackson was attending a game in Columbus, scouting the Ohio State freshman. The below was taken from a report on Cleveland.com.

“He’s a great-looking kid,” Jackson said as he headed out of the arena. “Great prospect.”

While it may seem a petty fine from the league office, these are the rules. If anything it shows Jackson’s lack of experience in the front office. This is his second run in with the NBA after he was fined $25,000 for tampering with Derek Fisher while he was still on the Thunder.

The Knicks currently hold the NBA’s worst record, giving them a 25 percent chance of landing the first overall pick in June’s draft. Russell is widely accepted to be a top four prospect in this year’s draft.
